The Ultimate Test of Steady Hands and Nerves of Steel!
How It Works:
Crafted from 54 precision-cut wooden blocks, Jenga is a towering battle of focus and finesse. Each block’s dimensions are key: three times longer than wide, with a height slightly shorter than its width. Players stack the blocks into an 18-story tower, with each layer of three blocks positioned perpendicular to the one below (e.g., north-south, then east-west). To simplify setup, a plastic tray guides flawless construction.
Gameplay:
Once the tower stands, the builder takes the first turn. On your move, carefully extract one block from any layer except the topmost completed story and balance it atop the tower to create a new layer. Rules of engagement:
- Use only one hand at a time (though you may switch hands mid-move).
- Tap or test blocks to find a loose one—but if a block shifts and risks collapse, you must leave it in place.
- After placing your block, the next player has 10 seconds to start their turn. If the tower wobbles ominously, they can wait… and let gravity decide your fate!
Victory & Defeat:
The game ends when the tower crashes—defined as any block falling, except the one actively being moved. The player who caused the collapse loses, while the hero who moved just before them claims victory.
Behind the Blocks:
Born in 1984 as “Hoppla – eins zuviel!” (German for “Oops – one too many!”) by Fagus, Jenga evolved from traditional Takoradi building blocks. Its name comes from Swahili, meaning “to build”—a fitting tribute to its blend of creation and chaos.
Will your hands stay steady, or will your move be the one that shakes the tower to its core? Gather friends, take a breath, and let the high-stakes balancing begin! 🪓
